Minutes of February 12, 2012
Present: Roger Sweet, Eric White and Becky Cummings and John Marchessault from AmeriCorps/GreenCorps.
John explained is he is working with the Access After-School Program in Gilsum. He told us he will help set up a recycling program at the school, help create a garden for them to grow their own vegetables, teach conservation projects and work on preserved lands in both Gilsum and Sullivan. Home Depot has donated a few bins for recycling and composting. A worm farm will also be put together for the garden.
April 28 is town clean up day.
Roger&Ann Sweet and Dick Smith and three of his grandchildren flagged a new trail on the east side of the Town Farm (Forest). Ann and Roger think they may have found an old connecting trail from the Farm to Church St.
Eric will get in touch with Swift Corwin to see if he is able to attend the next meeting to plan for timber harvesting in the Town Forest. It was also mentioned that perhaps Swift would be willing to hold an informational meeting for the public about the Forest and the proposed cut.
Discussion followed about hiking trails in Nelson, Stoddard and Sullivan.
Roger gave a report form the Energy Commission and said Dennis Noonan had developed a generator for his windmill. Also, the boiler at the town barn has been operational now for about two weeks.
Meeting adjourned at 7:45.
