TOWN ELECTIONS: Tuesday March 9th 2010
Several town offices have positions open for election. They are:
Selectman - 1 position, 3 years
Budget Committee - 4 positions, up to 3 years
Trustee of Trust Funds - 3 positions, up to 3 years
Library Trustee - 1 position, years
Moderator - 1 position, 2 years
Tax Collector - 1 position, 1 year
Town Clerk - 1 position, 1 year
Treasurer - 1 position, 1 year
Overseer of the Poor - 1 position, 1 year
Cemetery Trustee - 1 position, 3 years
Supervisor of the Checklist - 1 position, 6 years
The filing period is from January 20th through January 29th at the Town Clerk’s office and the fee is $1.00
In addition, there are also town boards/committees with positions open. They are:
- Planning Board
- Conservation Committee
- Zoning Board of Adjustment
- Energy Committee

Dog Licenses
2010 dog licenses have been available since January 1st. 2010 so don’t feel you have to wait until April, you may do it NOW!
Vehicle Registrations
Vehicle registrations and renewals, both the town part and state part, are done completely here at the Town Hall, special exceptions excluded. Residents also have the option of mailing in their registration renewals once they receive their renewal paperwork that is sent to them. I am hoping you all are enjoying the options now available to you. The new style registrations are now being used. Please look for the decals now stapled on the back of the registration.
Register to Vote
Voter registrations may be done when the Supervisors of the Checklist meet, day of election or also at the Town Clerk’s office. Registrants must provide proof of citizenship (birth certificate, driver’s license, and passport, service discharge papers or naturalization papers), proof of age, and proof of domicile in Sullivan.
Register a Dog
Each dog four months or older must be licensed prior to April 30th of each year. Documentation of current rabies vaccination is required at the time of registration. Owners who fail to license their dogs by May 31st are subject to additional fees or forfeiture of the animals to the dog officer in the town. Cats are not licensed in New Hampshire.
Vital Statistics
The Town Clerk’s office is the depository of vital records consisting of births, marriages and deaths. Records 50 years old or prior are available for public perusal. For a fee of $12.00, the town clerk may research protected vital records and prepares a report. Copies of birth, death, marriage certificates and civil unions, are available for a fee of $12.00. The NH Dept of Vital Records requires photo identification from customers requesting copies of vital records.
Marriage Licenses and Civil Unions
Couples wishing to obtain a marriage license in Sullivan must bring proof of age, birthplace and proof of any previous marriages ending in death, divorce or civil annulment. The fee for the licenses is $45.00. The license application is good for 90 days after it is dated. The first copy of the original certificate is $12.00 for a total of $57.00.
Tax Collecting
Property Tax bills are sent out twice a year. This years' first billing is due on July 1st, 2009. Payment of your property taxes must be returned to the Tax Collector’s Office at the Sullivan Town Hall. Address is:

Hunting and fishing licenses are now being sold at the Town Clerk’s office. You may also pick up the fishing and hunting digests here too!
